Warehouse Director

Purpose of the Job

The Director of Warehousing is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational performance of all warehousing related functions across the Company’s barrel maturation operations, barrel, dry and finished goods inventory, shipping and receiving and logistics. The Director is accountable for safety, quality, regulatory compliance, inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, logistics execution and the development of warehouse personnel, all within the department. This position works closely with the VP of Operations and other department leaders to ensure seamless operations that support business growth and customer satisfaction.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and daily leadership for all warehouse operations.
• Develop and execute departmental goals aligned with company objectives.
• Build, coach, and develop warehouse leaders and hourly personnel.
• Foster a culture of accountability, safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Oversee all barrel receiving, shipping, storage movement, and work order processes.
• Ensure proper warehouse quality conditions for aging and storage.
• Coordinate barrel production and support production schedules, work orders, and bottling demands.
• Maintain accurate barrel locations via accounting and inventory ERP systems and provide accurate monthly inventory reports.
• Manage long term storage strategies.
• Maintain complete accountability for raw materials, barrels, bulk liquid, packaging materials, and finished case goods.
• Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counting, audits, reconciliation, and process controls.
• Lead physical inventories.
• Work alongside Finance to ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting.
• Optimize warehouse space utilization and inventory flow.
• Direct inbound and outbound transport activities.
• Ensure effective utilization of accounting and inventory tracking systems.
• Manage relationships with freight carriers, logistics providers and warehouse vendors.
• Coordinate shipment scheduling to meet customer delivery requirements.
• Optimize transportation cost while maintain services levels.
• Ensure timely shipments of finished case goods to distributers and customers.
• Coordinate daily materials flow to bottling operations.
• Ensure uninterrupted availability of barrels, bulk liquid, packaging materials, and finished case goods storage.
• Minimize downtime through effective planning.
• Maintain a strict Safety Culture throughout warehouse operations.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, TTB, DOT as related to warehouse operations.
• Maintain compliance with BRCGS (Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards) quality standards.
• Lead incident investigations and corrective action programs.
• Manage team schedules and overtime needs.
• Develop and monitor warehousing KPIs.
• Control and maintain warehouse operating expenses.

    Requirements

    Job Requirements and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or other relevant discipline.
    • Five years managing a Warehouse and Logistics environment and its team.
    • Proficient with software systems that manage materials, inventory, and labor.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Preference for having worked in an ISO, SQF, BRCGS or other established quality program environment.
