Assistant Store Manager

Purpose of the Job

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Retail Manager in running a small, guest-focused retail store and event space. The role splits time between the sales floor, delivering a welcoming and knowledgeable guest experience, and a dedicated weekly back-office day focused on bookkeeping, inventory, and merchandising. The Assistant Store Manager leads the team in the Retail Manager’s absence and helps set the standard for service.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Sales

  • Welcome every guest, understand what they are looking for, and recommend whiskeys, gifts, and merchandise that fit
  • Lead product tastings and share the stories of our brands and partner brands with confidence
  • Support multiple guests at once while keeping each interaction personal
  • Open and close the store, handle cash, and process sales accurately

Bookkeeping & Reporting

  • Reconcile daily sales, cash drawers, and deposits
  • Prepare weekly sales and inventory reports for the Retail Manager
  • Track invoices, receiving paperwork, and store expenses

Inventory & Merchandising

  • Conduct regular inventory counts, receive shipments, and reconcile discrepancies
  • Monitor stock levels and recommend reorders
  • Refresh displays and carry out merchandising plans to keep the store looking its best

Team Support

  • Lead shifts and serve as manager on duty when the Retail Manager is out
  • Train and coach Retail Associates on products, service standards, and responsible alcohol service
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal alcohol regulations, including ID checks
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Schedule

Part-time: 14 hrs/week on the floor + 1 day/week for bookkeeping, inventory & merchandising

Weekly Pay

$ 28/hour, Paid each Thursday

Requirements

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of retail experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or key-holder role
  • Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and basic bookkeeping; comfortable in standard office productivity software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers
  • Genuine interest in whiskey and event management. Hospitality or specialty retail experience preferred.
  • Friendly, clear communicator who enjoys working with people and leading by example
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Alcohol server permit, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Availability to work a schedule based on business needs, including weekends and holidays, and reliably attend as scheduled
